Living Sky Beef is a progressive beef cattle operation located in Southern Saskatchewan, near Minton. Our business includes a commercial cow/calf herd with spring calving and fall calving cows, replacement heifers, a backgrounding operation and custom baling. General Farm Labourer:
We are looking for a full-time general farm labourer who can assist us in managing our beef cow/calf herd year-round, maintaining our grazing and pasture-land as well as work with our feeding and baling operations.
We are looking for a full-time general farm labourer who can assist us in managing our beef cow/calf herd year-round, maintaining our grazing and pasture-land as well as work with our feeding and baling operations.
Duties may include feeding cattle and calves, operating/maintaining farm machinery and infrastructure, checking and treating cattle with health problems, maintaining livestock health records, and assisting with animal handling and processing (vaccine and health programs). During the spring, summer, fall months duties include grazing management and movements, overseeing calving, and cutting hay/operating the baler, hauling, stacking and loading bales, and maintaining farm infrastructure including water, fence and buildings.
The successful candidate does not need to have previous experience with beef cattle but must be eager to learn. They must also have the ability to work well with others or on their own. Long hours are required during certain seasons, but flexible in others. This position is physically demanding and requires a love of working in the outdoors in all kinds of Saskatchewan weather! Valid drivers’ licence is required, but we do not require a 1A.

Beef Cattle Herdsman:
We are looking for a full time, permanent employee to join our team who will work with us to manage our cow/calf herd and maintain our over 8000 acres of grazing and pasture land. Summer duties will include grazing management, fencing, water development, calving, identifying and treating cattle with health problems, processing animals and haying. During the winter duties include feeding cattle and calves, managing delivery of feed commodities, monitoring animal health, identifying and treating sick animals, managing winter feeding/grazing for cowherd, and hauling bales. During the summer and fall months we also operate a custom baling operation, so the successful candidate may be required to run the baler (large squares) and other equipment including swather, hay rake, and hay trailers to stack and haul bales.
Previous experience with beef cattle and operating farm equipment is an asset. Must have a valid class 5 driver’s licence. The successful candidate must have the ability to work well with others or on their own, posses time management skills and have the ability to manage other workers when necessary. Long hours and physically demanding outdoor work are parts of this job. Typically during the summer months, employees work Monday to Friday with weekends off. During the winter, employees may work alternating weekends (typically only Saturday) and we ensure that workers have two days off in a row.
